The Fountain of Youth
03:21
|
|
||
when i met her she was looking for the fountain of youth
she had a mind of her own she was a bit uncuth
she took my hand and with that crooked smile
she said come on babe lets stay young for a while.
oh she always got her way there was no doubt about that
alexandra the great with a little black cat
she had that new world luck and a cowboy hat
you know i started out strong i guess i fell a bit flat
no she never payed mind to the swing of the times
shed sing just about anything just as long as it rhymes
she was quick on the draw she could turn on a dime
i knew itd be pretty damn hard tryna make her mine
oh no time to waste she didnt give me that long
when youre fighting the clock so much can go wrong
like ponce de leon she was stringin me on
and i didnt even know it until she was gone
well that ship has sailed and made it pretty far
discovered new world and broke new hearts
but she was still looking for truth for some fountain of youth
cause in afew years she started falling apart
oh and aint it a shame now just to look at the wreck
she used to shine like the pearls that hung from her neck
but some day we all find that the thing abut time is when you run and it finds you it treats you unkind

Jupiter
03:21
|
|
||
True North is the only way she knows
The only way she goes
Springtime is the only time she makes
That's all the time it takes
Moonlight is the only thing she sees
The moon is made of cheese
Like Venus and Saturn and Neptune and Jupiter
I once thought she was a star
And I know it sounds stupid to say
But when the sun goes down and the moon burns out
You know she shines in the dark
But she shines just as bright in the day

The Trees Are Breathing
04:10
|
|
||
How nice it would be to like in a world
where every oyster had its very own pearl
where every dog had its day
and the trees were breathing
If all of the clouds had nowhere to be
they could float on forever into eternity
and dance as the go
far below the trees are breathing
How nice it would be t live without hate
in the cool and the stillness and the silence ornate
where each of us can feel that the trees are breathing
How sad it might seem but how lucky we are
that we've only gotten here
but that we've made it this far
still you must believe
that the trees are breathing
How impatient in kindness but how simple and wild
how full of wonder like the face of a child
for the first time seeing that the trees are breathing
Reliving all the moments in the passing of the days
cause hindsight's 20/20 they say
but what do you believe in?
see the trees are breathing
And wont it be strange when all that remains
are these pieces of paper and the cars and the trains
once around us seething when the trees were breathing
So give me your heart and tell me what you've seen
everything you're going to be and all the things that you've been
and its all for one reason...

Oceans
04:58
|
|
||
There are oceans between us
Lit like diamonds in the sun
Waves that reach out to greet us
Like they're calling everyone
There are oceans between us
I'm afraid that it's true
Coz you are there and I'll stay here
With or without you
And I miss you more than life, my dear
But wherever you go I will carry you
I leave nothing behind, coz you're always on my mind
There are oceans between us
That hide lives without measure
Like a sunken Atlantis
These hidden worlds full of treasure
There are oceans between us
At least that's the way that it seems
Like when reality sets in when I wake fro a dream
With or without you
And I miss you more than life, my dear
But wherever you go I will carry you
I leave nothing behind, coz you're always on my mind
Oceans or no my emotions will show
I miss you so
Despite what I say it could go either way
Let's hope it goes okay
But I've got notions to show my devotions will grow
I love you so
And I miss you more than life, my dear
But wherever you go I will carry you
I leave noting behind, coz you're always on my mind

That Thing
03:09
|
|
||
Oh some days I'm fine
Some days I'm out of my mind
But there's one thing I find to always be true
That I'm in love with you
Some days I'm blue
I just don't know what to do
There's one thing I've found to always be true
And that thing is you

Stained Glass Lens
04:09
|
|
||
Don't speak just yet
Until the lightening stops
The gentle silhouette
From where the ball was dropped
Somewhere on her floor
How could I ask for me
So I won't speak just yet
Until the lightening stops
And if she sees the world
Through a stained glass lens
'Coz shes a pretty girl
With lots of love to lend
And if she needs to know
on whom she can depend
Its 'coz she sees the world
Through a stained glass lens
I could never quite place my finger on what I should have seen
I never knew how much she meant to me
Well I keep hitting the snooze button and it feels like I'm living in a dream
That's probably just the way it seems.
So I'll wait to speak
If it's more time she seeks then I'll give it to her
As lightening flashes light the car the passes
Through the window she's been staring out of
And i cant help but notice that the grandfather clock
Syncopates my heartbeat with its' tick tock
And if it's anything like my own heart I've found
That it needs to be wound and let down every now and again
Just to keep on keep on passing time
I could never quite place my finger on what I should have seen
I never knew how much she meant to me
Well I keep hitting the snooze button and it feels like I'm living in a dream
That's probably just the way it seems.

Make Believe
04:57
|
|
||
Just give me a sign that it's safe to breath
Just open your eyes and I'm sure you'll see
This web of lies that we meant to weave
Just you and me
So take my hand now and come with me
It's a bitter thing but it taste so sweet
Just tell me now that it's meant to be
And we can make believe
I know that I've been here before
That much I can say
I keep returning to your open
But I don't have the strength to stay
So speak to me darling
Tell me it's okay
I keep returning to your open
But I don't have the strength to stay
Just give me a sign that it's safe to breath
Just open your eyes and I'm sure you'll see
This web of lies that we meant to weave
And we can make believe
So I'll give me a sign that it's safe to breath
If you open your eyes the I'm sure you'll see
This web of lies that we meant to weave
Just you and me
So take my hand now and come with me
It's a bitter thing but it taste so sweet
Just tell me now that it's meant to be
And we can make believe
We'll make believe
So I'll give you a sign that it's safe to breath
And you'll close your eyes and we'll make believe

A Little Older (Part 1)
03:53
|
|
||
Darlin' won't you give me once last chance
I know that time and circumstance has seen me drifting
Where your own heart dare not go
I know that I've been home before for a couple days
But this time it's more
I mean it now, I'm coming home for sure
Now that I'm a little older I know I'll never be the crimson soldier
I always imagined that I'd be
As the nights are getting colder, ever since I've been sober
You're the only one to grace my dreams
I was telling you a big white lie
I looked like hell and I stank like rye
But you took my hand and looked me in the eyes
It was then that night I went away
My bed was empty come the day
And all I left were footprints in the clay
Now that I'm a little older I know I'll never be the crimson soldier
I always imagined that I'd be
As the nights are getting colder, ever since I've been sober
You're the only one to grace my dreams
Just give me one last chance and I will show you
That I'm not all bad
Just a little lost, confused, and sad
Just give me one last chance and I will show you
That I'm not all bad
I know you're mad but if you'll have me back I'll show you
That now that I'm a little older I know I'll never be the crimson soldier
I always imagined that I'd be
As the nights are getting colder, ever since I've been sober
You're the only one to grace my dreams

Ice is on the water as I look down from the plane
It's only a few hours until I'll be seeing you again
But there's a pit inside my stomach
And a pounding in my head
'Coz I don't know what you're going to say
I just know the things you've said.
I've been running with the sunlight
It's been an 18 hour day
But the night ain't far behind me now and I can only pray
That I can hold you in my arms again
And make this whole thing right
But I don't know if I will land before the falling of the night
Man wasn't made to live alone
And I wasn't made to live without you
You know my heart is made of more than stone
And I wasn't made for this
I have done some things to you that make me hide my face
'Coz I can't bear to look you in the eyes
I know that it's a lot to ask but all I need is your good grace
Really it should come as no surprise
Man wasn't made to live alone
And I wasn't made to live without you
You know my heart is made of more than stone
And I wasn't made for this
I'd like to say that I would never let you down again
That this was the last time I would ever make you cry
I think we are both old enough to know the way this goes
But I promise I'll love only you until the hour I die
Man wasn't made to live alone
And I wasn't made to live without you
You know my heart is made of more than stone
And I wasn't made for this

No Time
04:12
|
|
||
Take me to the place where we first met
Back to a time we hadn't been there yet
Back when we first made eye contact
Take the clock back
On second thought
I'm happy where we are now
It's the place I want to be
Every now and then we'll look back
Upon the memories
We got to where we are somehow
And I've never loved you the way I do now
What the future holds
We'll never know
But I know we'll change
And I know we'll grow
Love you're everything at once
You're the reason and the rhyme
And when I look at you there's no such thing as time.

Silver Threads
04:41
|
|
||
Now if my theory here is true
And heaven's just a point of view
You can see it if you turn your head just right to the side
Though you say it isn't true as you stare int the blue
You catch a shimmer of silver growing dimmer in the sky
Did you really think that you'd get this far in a borrowed car?
You've got luck on your heels and it's pushing you out the door
As you say to me, "babe, don't you know that there's nothing
No there ain't nothing free in this wild world anymore
Coz heaven has got it's price
Forgiveness would be nice but it's not for us, no
At least that's what I've been told."
See the sacred web that's wound
In silver thread upon the ground
That we cant' help but get caught up in
Time and time again
And if my conscience is quite sound
And wonders really do abound
Will I be singing in the morning come the rain?
Did you really think that you'd get this far in a borrowed car?
You've got luck on your heels and it's pushing you out the door
As you say to me, "babe, don't you know that there's nothing
No there ain't nothing free in this wild world anymore
Coz heaven has got it's price
Forgiveness would be nice but it's not for us, no
At least that's what I've been told."
...
I don't believe that anymore
